- you could do that on ppc macs too30 diggspookkake on 2008-07-04 15:50:17
- pookkake: yeah, but you couldn't use any x86-specific code. If you thought the lackluster commercial support for Linux is bad, wait till you try not having most of the commonly used code available thanks to your hardware platform.5 diggssolistus on 2008-07-04 20:23:24
- Thanks for clarifying that, zulfy. We weren't sure.3 diggsvault on 2008-07-04 23:24:38
- Psst, zulfy26 -- do you also go by the name "Captain Obvious"? Just want to make sure.0 diggsrolf on 2008-07-05 02:40:29

- Oh, now you could dual boot between OSX and Linux back in the PPC days.17 diggsKosher1947 on 2008-07-04 14:42:59

i don't know, maybe beucase there's a ton of stuff available for free on linux, which doesn't run on mac os x, and costs money on windows... - HolyChimp: I call your bluff. Name mainstream manufacturers' computers with comparable specs and a substantially lower price than the MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac Pro. I'll spot you the MacBook Air, but that's about it.5 diggssolistus on 2008-07-04 20:27:33
Vista costs like $400. You can almost get a Mac Mini (along with a better OS) for that. Apple has never charged more than $129 for an OS upgrade, and they don't do the bullshit multi-tiered pricing where you have to pay twice as much to get a bootable install disc to install on a freshly formatted drive or to get all the features. There's just the regular edition and a Server edition (but the regular edition can serve content just fine with Apache or whatever).
- pain to get the driver to work tho-7 diggsheanshi on 2008-07-04 16:10:44
- No. They're included with the Leopard install DVD. Just pop that in.14 diggsfreqk on 2008-07-04 16:14:02
- Yeah, if you're an idiot or don't know how to put a DVD into a computer.9 diggsKMartSheriff on 2008-07-04 17:38:28
- What are you talking about? I run Vista 64 as my primary OS on my Mac Pro Tower. I cannot tell you how smooth it has been, best computer I have ever owned. Never have had driver issues, or any compatiblity issues whatsoever. Plus having dual boot is great!! The more I use OS X the more I like it.5 diggsshank2001 on 2008-07-04 23:21:34
- Windows and Linux were possible of doing this how long ago?4 diggsdashdingo on 2008-07-04 16:49:45

- im curious which other were you thinking of?1 diggsumbrellainabin on 2008-07-04 16:52:59
- The transition from PPC to Intel was boring compared to the switch from OS 9 to OS X.3 diggs5plic3r on 2008-07-04 22:01:21
