Clothes from JC Penny have a special coating so that the clothes can slide on and off more easily?

The tagline of the commercial is "today is the day to get away with it"

JC Penny's slogan is "Every day matters"

Additionally, were it not a spec-ad, I imagine all the clothes featured in the ad would be available at a JC Penney store.

It's more of a branding ad than a product ad, however, I'm not sure this is really the image that JC Penney is looking to sell...

      So...steal from JC Penny's?
That can't be what they're trying to promote here....

      ...must...think...harder...

A lot of commercials have nothing to do with what they are promoting these days. Its almost as idiotic as the food commercials where someone has a full body orgasm because they were eating KFC.

I forget the specific marketing term, but the reason for commercials without specific product promotions has to do with brand recognition...

For example, people already know about KFC and JC Penny, so telling them about the products seems redundant -- these commercials are designed to simply get people thinking about KFC or JC Penny.

I don't know about you, but those KFC bowls are a regular in my sexual routine.

No connection. It's just associating sexuality with their brand. It's controversial because it's a couple of teenagers in the commercial.

Nothing. It's a spec ad. RTFA.

"Usually spec commercials are not never even shown to the said client they are being made for. Basically its a fake commercial but its a great way to showcase ones talants in their respective artform. Ad Agency Creatives, Editors, Directors, Colorists and DPs all benefit from the practice of spec commercials. In this case JC Penny probably never even heard of this commercial until we all did."
