Replying to this because it's semi-related and near the top so hopefully it gets replied to because I'm sure others here are in a similar situation.

I sold off my unlocked iPhone over the weekend and now I'm wondering if I will be paying $200/$300 for the new phone, even though I had a contract/iPhone through at&t. Will it just extend my contract to 2 years from the time of purchase, or activation through itunes? If not, what will happen? Any ideas?

I believe it overwrites the old one and you start clean and have 2 years starting now. They usually don't penalize you for paying them more money....

Haha. Makes the touch "pointless". A finger joke. Good one.

There are a couple reasons to still go with the iPod Touch the first is the 32 GB version which is obvious for those who need more space. The second is the two year contract with AT&T which not may users want to get locked in with. Then there are the small things like, it is thinner and less weight.

There are rumors that you can't even buy the new iPhone without signing a contract, which makes perfect sense, they get your money later in the service instead of up front with the phone.

This means it is pointless to break activation if you already paid for the service contract.

It's locked to AT&T, there is a contract.

Rumor has it Apple won't even let you have a phone without signing a contract, so how the fuck are you planning to unlock it and why?
